With Spring racing season fast approaching it’s important to know how to stand out from the crowd this year! We’ve come up with five ways to ensure you stand out this racing season…. for all the right reasons.
Pick the right suit
This may sound like an obvious one, but let’s break this down and make sure we start off on the right foot. A well-fitted suit is everything, you don’t want to be showing up to the races in a baggy cotton blend suit from your brothers year 12 formal. This year Tweed suits are in. Tweed suits are something you might typically associate with an older guy, but this season, if you style them correctly they can look sharp! Tweed comes in a whole range of colours, shades and patterns, I’d recommend going with a soft green or maybe a lighter colour.
Wear a three-piece suit
Want an excuse to dress up all fancy and dapper in a three-piece suit? Go for it! The races are perfect for the three-piece. Consisting of a suit jacket, pants and a waistcoat – this style is ultra classy. There are a few rules to abide by if you do choose this option though, make sure your waistcoat is well fitted and long enough to cover your waist, you should always leave the last button undone, please also remember to try to match the colours or keep to a colour scheme when wearing the three-piece, whether it’s matching it with your shoes and socks or maybe a pocket square.
Choose the right accessories
Accessories are very important as they can make or break an outfit. Again, try to keep everything to one colour scheme, try to match your socks with your pocket square and tie for example (check out Mr Mens awesome range of ties here). This season, try to be creative with your tie choice, Mr Mens sell a great royal green leather tie, which can spice up your outfit just the right amount (pictured below). As a general rule of thumb, your belt should match the colour of your shoes so try to stick to these basic principles… BUT you are at the races after all, so have fun with it!
Pick the right shoes
Choosing the right shoes is crucial. As the temperature is quite hot for the racing season you want shoes that are both stylish and comfortable so make sure you’ve worn your shoes in before the big day. Loafers are great for the warmer days and also look really good with most suits.
Don’t be a fool
It’s easy to get caught up in the fun and games of the races but always try to remember to drink responsibly. It’s hard to look sharp and stylish after 20 beers, so leave the horsing around to the horses.
Lastly, if you really want to look sharp this racing season… then stay healthy. Before you get to the race track, read this blog about the 9 things all men should get checked out to stay in tip-top shape here.
