5 Gift Ideas for the Man Who Has Everything

Yes, it’s that time of year again. Christmas is fast approaching and with it, the pressure of finding that perfect gift. Whether you’re buying for a colleague at the office, a partner or a relative, gifting for men can be a bit of a tricky ask, especially if it seems the man in question already has everything under the sun.

But worry no more, here at Mr Men’s we’ve developed a simple yet comprehensive list of ideas to help you find the right gift for the right man. So without further ado here are 5 gift ideas for the man who has everything.

Something to Help Him Stand Out

When buying for the man who has everything you have to think details. So, instead of simply getting them a bag, a wallet or a new watch, why not get them something they can truly call their own. What about a wallet, card holder or journal with their initials on it, or a watch with a special message engraved on the back? Think about something they would use every day and that will fit well into their existing brand of style and fashion.

Just remember to make sure the writing or initials aren’t too big, no one wants a bag with their name printed obviously across the side. Keep any messages you include short and meaningful.

Get Him Something Different

Who said Christmas gifts have to be serious? Why not surprise your man in question with something a little left-field this festive season? How about a pair of roller blades? A quirky yet tasteful tie to add to their collection? Or the classic funny apron? You want something that they’ll get a bit of a kick out of but still find a use for. Ok, so maybe not the roller blades then…A funny gift is always best paired with a bottle of the good stuff- for the next time you’re together and laughing about the gift.

You Don’t Have to Get Him a ‘Thing’

Sure a more permanent gift is lovely, but what about dinner at that nice restaurant you and your giftee have always talked about going to? How about taking them over to the Astor to see one of their favourite classic films, or a lovely night under the stars at one of Melbourne’s many outdoor cinemas? Maybe they’ve always wanted to test drive a luxury car.

The key here is to think of somewhere they’d love to go or something they’d love to do and simply haven’t had the chance to yet. They’ll be touched that you out in the time and effort to consider them so carefully and that you listen when they’re describing their interests.

Something That Will Interest Him

Following on slightly from the point above; it’s always a good idea to find a gift that plays to their interests. You’re looking for something specific and meaningful, an item that can take a place of pride in their home. Maybe it’s a first edition of their favourite book or the new work from an author they adore. What about a print of a work from an artist they admire, or even one of their original works?

Maybe they collect fishing lures and you’ve found the perfect item to add to their collection. Whatever you find to suit your man in question just remember, it doesn’t have to be big. If they have posters of Ferrari’s all over their house that doesn’t mean you have to go out and get them one of the 36 Ferrari 250 GTOs that exist, but what about a detailed and well-made model?

A Donation in His Name

Christmas is, after all, a time for giving. If the man you’re buying for has everything a modern man could desire then maybe think about helping out someone who is less fortunate and make a donation in their name. As fantastic a city as Melbourne is there are still people living there who are doing it rough. Why not help to make their Christmas season a little brighter?

There are plenty of worthy charities across the city working for those in need (including The Smith Family or the Sacred Heart Mission), but they always need additional support to help them keep up the good work. Alternatively you could look for an organisation that is doing charity work overseas, such as Oxfam or Médecins Sans Frontières.

Well there you have it, 5 things to consider when it comes to gifting this festive season. And remember, if all else fails a good bottle of whisky under the tree never went astray. While you’re here why not check out our list of 5 things to get the man who has nothing, to help those style-stunted individuals this Christmas.
